We've integrated the main page of our webstore at aestheticsbodymod.com/store with wordpress, and all posts have been exported there.

What's this mean?

From now on, all you have to do to check out our blog is visit our webstore. New blog posts are displayed in the main ('home') page of the store, and archived posts are tabbed on the sidebar to the right. As of 12-11-08 all new updates about our products and shop will be added there.

December Update

We've got lots of new stuff on the site and in the shop for December, and a few announcements!

We got a TON of new bamboo, rattan, and mixed metal designs from Equipped for Eternity. Lots of really nice stuff... their big antiqued-metal hanging designs look amazing through wood eyelets! We got some specialty bamboo and rattan plugs/eyelets as well -- burnt designs, node-cut bamboo, black bamboo... even some bamboo teardrops!

We also got some prints and original paintings from our good friend and great artist, Steve Thompson. They are gracing the walls of our shop for the time being, but are available here as well as on the webstore in the 'media' section.

We're making some slight changes/improvements on the webstore as well. If you haven't noticed, we've got new categories for our wood jewelry for pre-made jewelry versus custom jewelry. In addition, we're expanding on the amount of pre-made jewelry we have available here at the shop and on the webstore by adding more basic already-made designs. We're starting this expansion with solid single-flared wood plugs from 14 gauge up to 1" in some of our most popular woods -- ebony, granadillo, olivewood, and tiger ebony have already been started, and we'll be adding more woods and basic designs as they are completed.

Thanks to everyone who submitted photos of them wearing our jewerlry -- we'll be adding a photo section specifically for that very soon to the site -- if you haven't sent us photos yet, we could always use more!

And now... holiday stuff!

We've set up a coupon with 'giftmas08' as the code for 10% off anything on our webstore. We've set it to last until the end of December so that if your secret santa doesn't get you that pair of plugs you wanted, you can still use the money from your stocking to get them yourself.

If you plan on getting custom jewelry made in time for x-mas: we will be making the cutoff for orders at 6pm December 20th (when the storefront closes for the weekend) to give us one final weekend to catch up. Any orders placed before that time will be guaranteed to ship by Monday the 22nd. If you plan on getting stuff by the 25th, please order before then and make sure you choose a shipping option that will get them to you in time!

In addition we'll be giving away some free stuff as an end-of-the-year 'thank you' to our loyal clients. We will be contacting the 10 people with the most orders on our store from the past year after the first of the year (not including wholesale accounts... no cheating!) about an extra 'thank you' for all the support.

Aesthetics will be closed Friday and Saturday (11/14 and 11/15), but we will resume our regular hours on Tuesday (11/18). We will be at the Chicago tattoo convention for the weekend sharing a booth with Oracle Body Jewelry -- if you're in the area or going to the show, stop by and say hi!

Orders placed online will be processed as usual, and we'll be working late Sunday and all day Monday to make orders that would have been made this weekend, so there shouldn't be any delay in any orders that are pending.

We still have new products to add to the site next week, so keep checking back for new stuff.

In the meantime, WE WANT YOUR PHOTOS! We're working on a page for the site of people wearing jewelry we've made. So send photos of you wearing our stuff to customjewelry@aestheticsbodymod.com and we'd appreciate it!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween, and arrived safely into November!

To start out the new month, we've got more new jewelry:

We just got a TON of new Miao and Afghani silver jewelry:

On top of that, we also got several new gold pieces from Body Vision -- navel curves, nostril nails, and a handful of really nice ends for threadless barbells. In addition to the items that we stock from Body Vision, if you like gold jewelry, at any time you can check out their site, add items to your wishlist, or order them, and they will forward the order to us and we'll make sure to get you what you want. If you don't see what you want on their site, feel free to contact them through the site or us and they can make a custom piece for you and we'll get it to you. If you have any questions about custom gold jewelry, feel free to contact us!

We've also picked up a run of new double-flared Tibetan agate from Evolve we'll be adding to the site shortly... we picked some extra-stripey pairs. It's a really gorgeous stone!

New stuff from Oracle has been added to the site:

Single-flared stone plugs from 10g to 1/2" in Labradorite, Opalite, Yellow Tiger's Eye, Picasso Jasper, and Goldstone. These are great for conches, labrets, nostrils, etc. where double-flares won't work, or just for those of you that are stretching or prefer single-flares for your lobes.

In the single-flare, we also picked up some opalite single-flares with heart-front flares.

We also got a handful of custom stone jewelry including some really amazing stone labrets in Mahogany Obsidian, Purple Agate, Tiger Iron, Banded Onyx, Serpentine, Labradorite, Lapis, and Ocean Jasper.

Now that the shop is back up and running and we're caught up on orders from last month's hiatus, we've had a chance to get back to something we really enjoy -- buying new jewelry!

We've got a bunch of new stone from Oracle that's in the shop now, and we'll be adding it to the webstore as well very soon. Single flared stone and opalite plugs, opalite heart-front plugs, and some assorted custom pieces including some super nice stone labrets.

Check out the store online in the next day or so as we get the new pieces photographed and listed, or if you're in the area swing by in person and see it for yourself.

We're back!

We've begun processing and making orders that came in while we were away, so if you ordered anything from us while we were out of town you've likely received an e-mail confirming your order at this point. For those of you that didn't notice or forgot to use the 20% off coupon while we were gone, we gave it to you anyway, so if the total you got charged for versus what's on your invoice is off that's why.

We don't have our sign up yet, so we're a little tricky to find, but that will be resolved soon. We're in the same building as Snips and Edibles in Irvington. They both face Washington street, we face away from the street. If you can't find out entrance since we don't have a sign up, feel free to stop in Snips or Edibles or give us a call and they'll point you to the right place!

If you placed an order while we were gone and have questions about its status, feel free to e-mail us or call us and we'll be glad to give you an estimate of how long it should take us to get out to you. It's looking right now like we'll be fully caught up within two weeks or less, and we'll be back to filling orders within days again.

Thanks for the patience during the move! Once things are settled down and caught up, we'll have some new stuff going up on the store, so keep a lookout for that as well.

Aesthetics' webstore will be temporarily paused starting today through the 1st of October while we are in Mexico celebrating our recent marriage!

For those of you who don't know, Aesthethetics is two people. We are the piercers, counterstaff, jewelers, order-fillers, customer support, and owners. We love keeping it that way because despite the extra work, it this means we are more closely tied to everything we do. If you e-mail us or call the shop, you're talking to one of us. If you get custom jewelry made, one of us made it. We fill your orders, track and ship your packages, etc.

The downside to this, is that on the rare occasions when we take time off, it leaves no one to do our jobs. We apologize for the inconvenience, and as a compensation, everything on the webstore from here until the 1st will be 20% off! Upon checkout, enter "Vedge" as the coupon code, and you will receive 20% off your entire order.

New orders will not be processed or shipped until the 1st. If they are for stocked jewelry, they will be shipped immediately upon our return. If orders are for custom jewelry that needs to be made, we will start making jewelry in the order that requests come in beginning on the 1st. We will do our best to get those orders completed and shipped as quickly as possible.

New jewelry, as promised!

Aesthetics' storefront is moving!

(don't worry though, we're just moving across the street!)

What this means for our local friends/clients:
We will be closing our storefront at our current (2 Johnson Ave) Saturday, August 30th to begin our move. Our new location will be a shared building here in Irvington with Snips salon and spa, and Edibles organic market. Our new address will be:

We will be taking the month of September to remodel the new location (and get married!) and will be re-opening October 1st in our new location. We're really excited about the new location, and can't wait for you all to come visit us!

What this means for our webstore/online friends/clients:
Not much, really. We'll be checking the webstore and e-mail regularly like usual during the remodel, processing orders, making jewelry, etc. so everything will stay smooth. We will, however, be on vacation for a week prior to our wedding, but we'll post more information about how that will affect ordering on the webstore when we get closer to that date.

New old stuff!

We've (re)added some new old items to our webstore for those of you who might have noticed.

For the big-lobed people: We discontinued big delrin eyelets (the 2"+ stuff) and plugs a couple months ago because working with them caused the delrin to heat which resulted in a finish that we weren't really happy with. We've found a way to solve that though by doing eyelets only, and making the walls thinner. So we now introduce big delrin (thin-walled) eyelets! Not only is it safer for us to work with and the finish better, the thinner walls make them much lighter... and they look good too!

For the big-labret people: We've also found a way to get a better finish that we're really happy with on delrin at lower speeds, so we've added black delrin as an option to our t-back labrets for those of you that aren't into the white look or just want a change of pace. The material is still too hard (unfortunately) to really do ovals without a ridiculous amount of extra work that wouldn't be justifiable, BUT, for the rounds we're happy to add black delrin as an option. Additionally, we likely won't add it as a product, but for those of you who like the look of wood in labrets but are still stretching or just don't like wearing wood in your lip for whatever reason, we can do wood inlays in PTFE or Delrin labrets for you -- just send us an e-mail and we can make that happen.

Several new items added to the site today (Threadless barbells, labrets, and ear rods from NeoMetal), but most importantly...

...shipping has been fixed!

There was a bug in our shopping cart program caused by USPS making some unannounced changes to their server. What that means is that no matter what shipping method was selected, customers were being charged for express mail upon checkout regardless of their choice. That is no longer the case, and everything should be 100% functional!

We've listed silicone eyelets and star-front plugs that we're discontinuing super-cheap, so if you're looking for something light and comfortable to wear this winter this is a really good deal.

This blog has now been merged with the "What's New?" link on our webstore -- we will continue to update it with current events at the shop, recent plugs we've made, and so forth -- only now it will also contain updates to the webstore as well such as new items and sales -- enjoy! Big labrets

Marea has been making a lot of big labrets lately. They're definitely something we really enjoy making here at Aesthetics because they totally embody custom jewelry. Back shapes, oval shapes, etc. all have to be fit to the individual person.

Here's a 13.5mm oval labret out of olivewood. This client prefers and top and bottom flare, as opposed to the usual no flare on the bottom and slight flare on the top:

This one for me (Alan) is also olivewood. 3/4" by 1" oval with a brass off-center inlay:

Danny and Dom came by yesterday when they were in town. It was good seeing them again!
Dom had to take her nape piercing out because of a job and decided to get her sternum pierced again. Alan did a beautiful job and it looks great!
Danny's ears were scalpelled by Alan. His cartilage piercings were done by Alan and Marea, one each - although we can't remember who did which. :)

Not to point fingers... but - no more names! :)
A frien brought in his buddy who wanted to get rid of an ex's name. He was at the point of putting a lit cigar out on it. So Marea decided to take a conservative route and just to burn off the top layer of skin just above the name... The ink was really deep (as you can see in the photo), but she didn't want to scar too deep on a finger... a scar in the shape of the name is just a bad!
Update after a couple days: the tattoo ink is coming out as the brand is healing. sucess! We will post pictures after it is all healed.

Aesthetics has been nominated for Indy's A-list through WRTV6.

Aesthetics is a new studio just north of downtown Indianapolis. Indianapolis' only piercing-only studio, as well as the only all-titanium, all-internal, all-disposable, all-freehand studio in Indianapolis. In addition to piercing, Aesthetics also offers custom hand-made wood jewelry.
